Welcome to this week’s Friday Finds! We selected a suggestive title: “Dear dad”. The treasury that we picked was created by Nora from Sunchildsews. Nora makes camera straps, peg bags, purses and other sewn things from lovely colorful fabrics, as well as different upcycle projects. Her items are fun and very imaginative. Here is a unique children kindergarten bag created by Nora:

We hope you have enjoyed this edition of Friday Finds. Next week's theme will be “June Trends”. If you have a treasury you would like to submit, just send me or Susan a link via Etsy convo by Thursday afternoon and we will take a look. Artist Spotlight

This week's featured artist is Nora from Sunchildsews.  Nora designs camera straps, peg bags, purses and other sewn things from lovely colorful fabrics.  Nora also creates unique upcycled items!  Here is one of Nora's products:

Tell us a little about you and your creative business

I love sewing practical things with a humorous twist and colorful fabrics. For example clothespin bag-Owls, funky camera-straps, waiter holsters, soft toys,..

Where do you get your inspiration?

My inspiration comes from a sort of inner fairy tale I have, where I see lots of colors and speaking animals :o)

What are some of your biggest challenges?

The biggest challenges selling online are that the product can't be touched and to be found and seen in the world wide web..

What has been your most successful moment so far?

My biggest successful moments are if costumers give feedback and love what they bought.

Do you have any advise you can share with others?

My advice to someone just starting out on Etsy is: be active! take part in groups, create beautiful treasuries and visit "Etsy School".

Thank you Nora for sharing your story with us.  Your items are lovely and very unique.

That wraps up another Artist Showcase.  I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about how Sunchildsews got its start and seeing some of Nora's beautiful and unique pieces.

If you would like to be considered for an upcoming feature, just drop me or Zoica a note via Etsy convo.

Artist Spotlight - Nuppi

Welcome to another edition of Artist Spotlight.  This week’s artists are Adi and Alma from Nuppi. Here is their story…

Tell us a little about you and your creative business.

We are Adi and Alma. We are both textile designers and mothers of gorgeous young boys.  Alma has one boy and Adi has 2 boys. We met during textile design studies and have been good friends since.  Nuppi is a brand for stylish and chic nurseries and kids dĆ©cor. Our ETSY store has mobiles, wall art, customized name dĆ©cor and decorative cushions.   All items are handmade by us.  We pride ourselves on our attention to detail.

How did you get your start?

At first we just made gifts for our friends and family for their new babies and used to consult each other regarding ideas, colors and materials. We got so many good responses from friends that when we both became mothers we decided to turn our passion and hobby into a business.

Where do you get your inspiration?
We find inspiration in our own children. Our collaboration is very inspiring for both of us because we both bring something else to the table and together it becomes something unique.  All items are flavored with joy, humor, laughter and fun which are integral parts of our creations.

What has been your biggest successful moment so far?
When we first started we thought we would only sell our products online but when a gorgeous and successful Baby Boutique contacted us about our products we decided to give that a chance! The success of selling in that first boutique drove us to explore and reach more boutiques to sell our designs.

What challenges do you face selling online?
Each item on Nuppi is made meticulously with the highest standards. Each seam and button gets very detailed attention. So the biggest challenge for us is to make it show through the pictures since people cannot touch and feel the actual item.   Another challenge is getting found by shoppers. Etsy is SO big... and full of wonderful and creative products and we need to work hard to make unique and stand out.

What advice would you give someone just starting out on Etsy?
Do your homework! Etsy have a lot of great information for the seller.  The “Seller handbook” is a great place to start; every seller should read it!   Look at shops that makes items similar to what you make and ask yourself what you can learn from them. Look at their pictures, listing texts, pricing, policies, etc.  Join groups; the Etsy community is very helping and supporting.  Share with others and learn from their experience as much as you can.  Having an Etsy shop is an ongoing experience and takes much work; keep learning and improving your shop all the time.

Most of all - have fun! It shows...

Thank you Adi and Alma for sharing your story with us.  Your artwork is truly amazing.
That wraps up another Artist Showcase.  I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about how Nuppi got its start and some of their beautiful and unique pieces.  If you would like to be considered for an upcoming feature, just drop me or Zoica a note via Etsy convo.
