Friday Finds Christmas in July

Welcome to this week’s Friday Finds! The theme was “Christmas in July” and we could not resist the bold colors in this treasury curated by Julene-Baker Smith from  ArtByJulene. Red is an exciting color, and can bring energy to a house, room or outfit. Red is the color of energy, passion and action. It is stimulating, exciting and motivating.
Julene has a beautiful art shop with originals and prints of animals and abstracts.

Here is one of Julene's amazing work:

We hope you have enjoyed this edition of Friday Finds. Next week's theme will be “Ride a Bike”. If you have a treasury you would like to submit, just send me or Susan a link via Etsy convo by Thursday afternoon and we will take a look. Remember, if your treasury is featured, we will feature an item from your shop. Thanks for stopping by! Until next time…

Spring 2014 Fashion Trends

Yesterday I cleaned out my closet.  Out with winter and in with spring and summer.  I managed to fill up 4 garbage bags of clothes for Goodwill that either didn't fit me or that I didn't like anymore.  That gap has led me to my quest for what's in fashion for Spring 2014.

Here are some of the things I have found on Pinterest this week.

2014 Design Trends

According to designer Jessica Kelly in an article in Style at Home the five biggest design trends for 2014 are:

Contrasting traditional with contemporary items -

Large scale patterns, particularly animal prints - Animal prints have been popular for a long time but this season they are larger and bolder than ever.

Antique mirrors - Mirrors have always been a great way to bring in the light.

Black and white - Always popular in fashion or interior design; this classic style is one of my favorites.  The color white symbolizes purity and black has always been the ultimate of sophistication.

Luxurious textures - What could be more luxurious than this rug?

Do you notice the one thing that all five pictures have in common?  They're all black and white!

Here is some black and white artwork for your enjoyment.

So to sum it all up, you just can't go wrong with black and white.  Next week we'll talk about fashion trends.  I bet black and white fashion will be one of them!
