Friday Spring Finds
Welcome to this week’s Friday Finds!
This week’s theme was “Spring Trends” and we picked two treasuries. The first one is called “Spring Colors” and was curated by the Etsy artist from GaranceCouture. She makes fun and pretty covers for ironing boards, as well as practical travel jewelry pouches, pillow covers, baby blankets and bibs, business card holders and eReader covers.

Artist Showcase - Micush
Welcome to another edition of Artist Showcase, where we feature a different Etsy artist every Monday. This week's artist is Michal from Micush. Michal creates beautiful illustrations including cell phone cases, posters, nursery prints, paper goods, home decor, textiles, and accessories.
Tell us a little about yourself and your creative business.
My name is Michal; I'm married and a mother of 2 amazing daughters. I live and work in Israel. I have a brand, which I established around 2 years ago named "Micush" which offers various products with my original illustrations.
How did you get your start?
I have always loved to paint and illustrate, even as a kid, but I never had the chance to developed it to something more professional and eventually I turned to the graphic designer industry. Slowly the passion for illustration grew on me, and I started to combine the digital skills I acquired as a graphic designer with my love of illustration. It took me a very short time to realize that this is what I want to. I started to improve my techniques and soon after I started "Micush".
Where do you get your inspiration?
I get my inspiration mostly from the nature that surrounds us: the trees, forests, animals, landscapes, flowers and many more - as far as the eye can see. :)
What has been your biggest successful moment so far?
I think the biggest successful moment was when the first ever production I made (notebooks) arrived. Seeing my illustrations on an actual product for the first time was very exciting!
What challenges do you face selling online?
I think the main challenges are around the visibility of my online shop and the availability around it. It is very hard to make your shop visible to people who are looking to buy something. It requires constant promotions and effort in different methods.
What advice would you give someone just starting out on Etsy?
The first advice would be to be patient. Don't be under the illusion that once you open your shop orders will flow in. It takes a lot of time and effort to start getting daily purchases. I highly recommend joining different Etsy community teams and read what the more experienced sellers say on how to improve sales. Good luck!

Artist Showcase - Musiu Muse
Welcome to this week's Artist Showcase. This week's artist is Kotryna Zvirble from Musiu Muse. Kotryna is from Lithuania and her unique items include wool felt slippers, felted baby booties, and felted jewelry made of pure wool. Here is Kotryna's story...
How Did You Get Your Start?
I started felting because I wanted to make some cute handmade Christmas presents for my family. I have found new felting friends and we shared experiences about technique and materials. Felt making became a serious hobby. I got lots of compliments for my work. I named my shop "musiu-muse" (musių-musė in Lithuanian). Musių-musė is more a creative pseudonym than brand, but probably it will become. The meaning of words selection is the fly of flies and look similar to muse. So I am a little more creative than ordinary flies.
Where do you get my inspiration?
Family I guess. I have grown up in creative family. Drawing and colors, and other crafts... and also special crazy creative projects always were around us. I saw impossible is nothing if you want to see your idea realized. Now I get a lot of support from my husband. He is creative too.
What challenges do you face selling online?
I have contradictory experience selling online. On one hand, there is a world of possibilities because of internet. I feel it especially because I live in small country with still growing economy in EU and our citizens are not so mad to buy "no-name" hand made product. So internet, Etsy, online payment systems opens big possibilities. On the other hand, we live in the times of social networks. Social networking management drives crazy. It is big task to be seen actually, to make your circle as big as possible, to find a special way to be better than others.
What advice do you have for someone starting out on Etsy?
My advice for someone who is beginner at Etsy would be: make good quality product, do beautiful photos, write down all tags carefully and think global... :) Be brave and original. Being original is important. Oh and patient. Do not forget that Etsy is ever changing, You must react in these changes. And be kind to your customers, talk to them if they want, discus postal problems and other daily things. Etsy is live down-town market full of life 24 hours per day. It is not just simply e-shop.
